MHADA Act, 1976

Enacted in 1976, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority Act established the legal foundation for structured housing development, urban redevelopment, and planned residential growth across Maharashtra. The Act defines the powers and responsibilities of MHADA in ensuring affordable and government-approved housing for all citizens.

This Act shall be known as the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority Act, 1976. It applies to the entire State of Maharashtra and came into force on the date specified by the State Government through an official notification in the gazette.
